How I created my first NFT artwork

While I’ve evolved into an entrepreneur after founding, building, and growing several startups, many may not have connected the dots to my college years as a photojournalism major with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in studio art. COVID lockdown got me to turn back to the brush and do some more painting and drawing, while also pulling me into the world of digital artworks and NFT. You can now find my work here:

This leads me to how I created my first artwork in the digital art world titled, “Eat Your Greens #1.”

Get set up to create an NFT artwork

So how do you create your own and join the world of NFT art? While the process is fairly straightforward, it is not cheap, nor is it free.

  1. Set up an Ethereum Wallet, I like Coinbase, which is not only a trading platform, but also has their Coinbase Wallet.
  2. Purchase a small amount of Ethereum
  3. Connect your wallet to an NFT Marketplace, in my case, it was one of the larger ones, Rarible

Creating your first NFT Artwork

Now is the time to get your creative juices flowing. create your artwork in something like Photoshop, or even Canva or Pixlr to get your ideas turned into pixels. Even your favorite photos that you always thought could fetch you millions, if only you got gallery representation, can be created as an NFT. Here is a work in progress in Photoshop below:

Once you have your masterpiece created, Rarible makes it easy to do the rest by following their instructions.

Once you’ve finished the steps, you can price your art and list it for sale on the marketplace. Then you’re off.
